Maison Huit is honoured to present an upcoming solo exhibition by internationally acclaimed Japanese ceramic artist Akio Nukaga, featuring a new body of hand-thrown vessels created in his Kasama studio. The exhibition will open on 21 March with an Open House event from 11am to 7pm, followed by a wheel-throwing demonstration by the artist on 22 March from 3pm to 4pm.

Known for his subtle pleated forms, warm neutral glazes and quietly modern sensibility, Nukaga’s work celebrates the tactility of clay and the poetry of everyday use. This exhibition will feature his new collections of ceramic lamps and tile pieces, which have never been shown in Hong Kong before.

Akio Nukaga, born in Tokyo and currently based in Kasama in Ibaraki Prefecture, is known for his rustic and modern ceramic tableware and vases that invite viewers to touch and use. Akio’s signature collections include ‘pleated work’, ‘Black Au Noir’, ‘Indigo’ and ‘Goma-kohiki’.
